Description
In a nutshell:
An English skin contact white in appearance but with plenty of fresh and aromatic flavours. Grown in Herefordshire and produced in London.
The lowdown:
Herefordshire grown grapes transported to Renegade's London Winery are what go into this skin contact Bacchus. The grapes are all destemmed by hand, and then the wild fermentation begins. Georgian Qvevri, traditional clay vessels, are used both for fermentation and aging. And it's this that gives the appearance of skin contact wine with its slightly hazy, deeper colour. But the flavour couldnt be more different; Fresh peachiness bursting with elderflower aromas creates a light and delicate white wine that is quite a unique experience.
The Producer:
Renegade Urban Winery, luxuriating in a Walthamstow industrial estate, truly lives up to its name. Founded in 2016, their concept is simple yet innovative: buy grapes from vineyards across England and Europe to create a diverse range of wines. They favour minimal intervention and natural fermentations, letting the fruit's natural qualities shine through. Renegade has carved out a niche with their unconventional approach, blending urban culture with traditional craftsmanship. Its an interesting take on winemaking that showcases a variety of styles and grape varieties.
When to drink:
This is an easy drinking wine, fit for all summer occasions.
Suitable for Vegans
