In a Nutshell:
A subtly floral, lightly aromatic Dão white with soft peach and apricot tones and a bright, easy feel.
The Lowdown:
Soft florality, light aromatics and a clean mineral edge are classic traits of Dão whites, and they're all on show here. Fresh but focused, it's an unoaked blend led by local variety Encruzado. Peaches, plums and apricots run right through it, with a crisp mineral bite giving a long, mouth-watering finish. With no shortage of character, but crowd-pleasing too, it's a winning combination.
The Producer:
Gota Wine was started in 2008 by a winemaker and wine buyer who felt there was an opening to bring some lesser-known Portuguese wines to greater attention. Since then, they've been working with growers and winemakers across Portugal to create a range of wines that express the characteristics of their area of origin whilst delivering excellent quality and value for money.
When to Drink:
Lovely chilled on its own, or with seafood, fresh fish or creamy pasta, as its freshness and gentle fruit suit these well.
