Description
In a nutshell:
A rich and full white from the Mâconnais, bringing classic Burgundian depth with ripe fruit and a touch of elegance.
The lowdown:
One of the three Pouillys in Burgundy - alongside Loché and Fuissé - Pouilly-Vinzelles is known for producing richer, riper, and more full-bodied whites, and En Paradis is a perfect example. Unoaked and matured for around ten months in stainless steel, it keeps its bright, fresh character while letting the fruit shine. Fragrant citrus, crisp apple, and a touch of honey on the nose lead into a medium-bodied palate with honeysuckle, fresh almonds, and plenty of intensity. A streak of lively acidity keeps it all in balance, finishing clean and refreshing. If you prefer your Mâconnais whites with a bit more weight and less austerity, this is the one to reach for.
The Producer:
One of the most recognisable names in Burgundy, Louis Latour has been family-owned since 1797 and built its reputation on Chardonnay. Few do it better, from top Grand Crus across the Côte-de-Beaune - their Corton-Charlemagne being a particular standout - to brilliant village wines. But their expertise doesn't stop at the Côte dOr. In the Ardèche, they apply the same skill and precision, producing wines that are superb, good value, Burgundy look-alikes. When it comes to Burgundian Chardonnay, they're pretty much the benchmark.
When to drink:
Its touch of richness works a treat with grilled sea bass, roast guinea fowl, or creamy lemon chicken - bringing just enough indulgence while the fresh acidity keeps everything bright and balanced.
