You'll get ripe plums, blackberries, dark chocolate and even a hint of fennel which means this is not just a simple glugger, but worthwhile wine in its own right. These Down Under red sparklers are certainly one of the more interesting contributions to the wine world.
The name Peter Lehman is one inextricably linked with the Barossa Valley. Since starting to make wines under his own name back in 1979 his company's success and that of the Barossa have followed a parallel trajectory. The man himself went on to become one of Australia's most respected and innovative wine makers. Peter passed on a number of years ago and the company is no longer and the business has been sold on, but their reputation for making some of South Australia's most highly regarded is as high as ever.
When to drink:
Rich foods are what to go for here, chocolatey puddings especially. Also, it'll still develop nicely for a year or two if you leave it in the rack.
