Description
In a nutshell:
A world class aged riesling, simultaneously delicate and full of intense ripe citrus.
The lowdown:
Fans of bottle aged riesling typically look for racy minerality combined with a tangy, lime accentuated acidity. This is a wine that ticks all those boxes with ease. With a pleasing floral aroma, it's wonderfully pure on the palate with notes of lime cordial mix with lemon rind in a deliciously delicate manner and lead up to lovely crisp, dry finish. Named after ex-chief winemaker Andrew Wigan this is has been a consistent trophy winner over the years and the 2015 is a particularly good example. So it's definitely one to snap up.
The Producer:
The name Peter Lehmann is one inextricably linked with the Barossa Valley. Since starting to make wines under his own name back in 1979 his company's success and that of the Barossa have followed a parallel trajectory. The man himself went on to become one of Australia's most respected and innovative wine makers. Peter passed on a number of years ago and the company is no longer and the business has been sold on, but their reputation for making some of South Australia's most highly regarded is as high as ever.
When to drink:
One to savour on its own or pair it with oysters to see it really sing. It'll continue to age and develop wonderfully.
Suitable for Vegetarians
