The lowdown:
Blanc de Blancs sparkling wines are made using just Chardonnay grape and Nyetimber's is from the fruit of their best performing parcels from their own estate vineyards. They make this Blanc de Blancs with a deliberately richer, fuller style. The aromas and flavours sit in perfect harmony starting with a delicate floral and citrus entry followed by subtle vanilla and toasty notes at the end.
The Producer:
Nyetimber is based in West Chiltington in the heart of West Sussex, on what is regarded as a perfect site for the production of sparkling wine. The estate was established in 1988, with just over 14 hectares planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. But ever-increasing demand for English sparkling wine has prompted considerable expansion. Owned by Dutchman Eric Hereema, huge investment has been made and they now have hundreds of acres of carefully selected vineyards across Sussex, Hampshire and Kent and state of the art winemaking facilities to go with them.
When to drink:
The long and complex finish makes this a home grown sparkler worth savouring.
