Description
In a nutshell:
A rich and flavoursome, traditional English Bacchus, with a hint of tropical fruits
The lowdown:
This is a classic English Bacchus with a twist of tropical aromas that hint at a New World style. The fruit comes a selection of their Essex sites including some from the oldest vines in the country, it bursts with ripe lemon and lime aromas, leading to flavours of orchard fruits, lemongrass, and grapefruit. It's generous with its flavours but keeps things crisp and fresh on the palate, making it a real thirst-quencher.
The Producer:
Founded in 1969 by Bill and Sheila Greenwood, New Hall Wine Estate in Purleigh, Essex, is one of the older generation of English vineyards that's made the successful transition to the modern day market. They've grown significantly since the 2010s, expanding vineyards and expanding their winery. Located in one of the UK's warmest and sunniest regions, their Essex terrain is perfect for viticulture. Now under the stewardship of the ambitious third generation, they're up among the country's leading producers.
When to drink:
Almost an English alternate to a Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. It pairs well with fish and vegetable dishes.
