Description
Spain: Duero Basin
Fruity & Bright White
Dry - Light-Medium Body - Lightly Oaked
Vegan - ABV 13.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Pure Verdejo from the Castilian plateau - good depth with ripe peach and nectarine, savoury herbal notes, and classic bitter twist.
The Lowdown:
This is Verdejo with a light touch of oak. With good stone fruit and plenty of texture and structure the oily, textural side stand out without overshadowing the fruit. Peach and nectarine are backed by savoury herbal notes - fennel, wild herbs - to give it a sophisticated edge. With a creamy, silky texture whilst keeping its essential minerality and subtle bitter twist, it's certainly not lacking in character.
The Producer:
Bodegas Naia, in the heart of Duero valley's Rueda region, is a champion of the Verdejo grape. Founded in 2002, their focus on old vines, some exceeding a century in age, has yielded wines of remarkable depth and complexity. The vineyards, a patchwork of bush vines and meticulously tended trellises, are a testament to the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. And with a commendable attachment to sustainable practices and minimal intervention their wines express Rueda's unique terroir and really capture the rugged nature of their patch of remote central Spain.
When to Drink:
The extra texture handles richer seafood beautifully - grilled fish, shellfish, white meats. Also excellent with Asian dishes.
