Description
In a nutshell:
Delicate, aromatic, elegance is the hallmark of this delightful white that hails from near Lake Garda
The lowdown:
Toasty almonds gently permeating the exotic fruit aromas is a first impression you're likely to get which leads you to a palate in which ripe golden apples, apricot and tangy citrus all play along together. The finish is clean and refreshing with almost a touch of salinity. Custoza is a small village in between Verona and Lake Garda which has lent its name to this wine, one of a number of distinctive whites that come from this part of the world. This one being a particularly good value example of the style.
One of Verona's historic houses, Giacomo Montresor founded this winery in 1892 and initially built a reputation for high quality, affordable Valpolicella and Amarone. In recent years the range has grown steadily with vineyards being developed further afield around northeast Italy. Family-owned until 2018, it was acquired by Cevico, a co-operative group based in Emilia Romagna since when major investment has transformed the company with modern production facilities and a new winemaking team rejuvenating quality across the board, while access to high quality grapes from across the Veneto has ensure the continuing excellence of their output.
When to drink:
A real pleasure all by itself and great with fish and light pasta dishes.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
