Description
In a nutshell:
Classic fruity and structured Claret from one of the top producers.
The lowdown:
M de Moulin Riche is the second wine of Château Moulin Riche and made mainly from fruit of the estate's younger vines. This vintage comprises 87% Cabernet Sauvignon with the rest being mainly Merlot. It spent 6 months in 2 year old French oak and another 6 months in stainless steel before bottling. The result is a delightfully fruit forward wine for a Claret. Gorgeous sweet and intense black fruit aromas are followed by a quite voluptuous feel on the tongue. It's structured and firm, but not overly full and makes for very approachable and pleasant drinking.
The Producer:
Château Moulin Riche is under the same ownership as the deuxième cru classé Château Léoville Poyferré sharing the same viticultural and winemaking facilities. It has 22 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot in the commune of Saint-Julien which have an average age of 25 years. The Cuvelier family who own both properties apply the same rigorous standards across the board and the chief oenologist, Isabelle Davin, ensures that standards are kept up to scratch for all wines of both estates.
When to drink:
This is a mature wine at the peak of it powers so drink it now or within the next couple of years. Lamb, or beef make great food pairings.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
