Description
In a nutshell:
An elegantly balanced white Burgundy which shimmers with fleshy stone fruit and a subtle touch of spice a lovely expression of its unique terroir.
The lowdown:
This has a bright, zippy feel with aromas of fresh apple and a squeeze of lemon. It comes from Ladoix, a lesser-known village tucked between some of Burgundy's big names - but don't let that fool you. The 'Clou D'Orge' vineyard basks in the sun, allowing its fruit to reach a gorgeous ripeness. Hand-picked, then aged in oak barrels, it develops a lovely balance. Expect juicy citrus, peachy notes, and a touch of toasty spice. It's all underpinned by a crisp minerality that keeps things lively. Overall, this is a charming, easy-to-enjoy white Burgundy with surprising depth.
The Producer:
Maison Louis Jadot is one of the classic Burgundy names, founded back in 1859 in Beaune - you can't miss their eye-catching winery. Their fruit comes from their many vineyards dotted around the Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais which is supplemented by some bought in. André Gagey and winemaker Jacques Lardière were the dream team behind their success. Jadot wines reliably deliver but check out their Côte de Beaune reds and whites - those are special. Frédéric Barnier took over from Lardière in 2013 and hasn't missed a beat.
When to drink:
A sophisticated Burgundy like this is ripe for creamy seafood dishes, think baked cod in a luscious sauce, or a posh prawn cocktail.
