Description
In a nutshell:
A bold, no-nonsense IPA from Bermondsey - fresh, hoppy, and a bit brash, in the best possible way.
The lowdown:
A three-way collab with Elusive and Burning Sky, this an IPA on the bigger and bolder side than many. The aroma hits first - heady, sweet, and all fruit cocktail. A honeyed sweetness leads the way before the hops kick in, pushing through with lush tropical pineapple. There's plenty of weight to it, rounded out by a firm bitterness and a proper pithy grapefruit finish. Feisty? Certainly. But with plenty of style.
The Brewery
The Kernel was brewing in Bermondsey before the, now famous, Beer Mile was even a thing. Founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, it set the standard that many others would follow - proper, no-nonsense beer with a focus on quality over hype. As the Beer Mile took off, Kernel took a different route though, moving its taproom away from the main crowds to shift its attention back to brewing. Even so, its influence on the area's craft beer scene is impossible to ignore.
Style - IPA ABV 6.8% - Strong
