To make this beer they've modified the recipe for their Export India Porter mainly by fermenting it with lager yeast and then lagering it for 9 weeks which creates a cleaner, smoother and creamier texture. The flavour profile has more dark chocolate with some milk chocolate velvetiness and the roasted notes have been smoothed down to give it extra drinkability.
The Brewery
The Kernel is the original Bermondsey craft brewery and was founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, who wanted to create a brewery that focused on using the best ingredients and brewing techniques to produce beers that were both delicious and complex. They quickly gained a reputation for their hoppy beers, such as IPAs and DIPAs. However, they also turn out a wide range of other styles ranging from stouts, porters, saisons, and sours and even the odd lager or two. Theyre also committed to experimentation and innovation and are constantly pushing the boundaries. This has resulted in some quite unique and special beers, such as their barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers.
