Description
In a nutshell:
Crisp, elegant Tasmanian fizz made the traditional way, think citrus zest, toasty notes, and a lovely creamy texture.
The lowdown:
Here Jansz really shows off what Tasmanian Sparkling is all about with their flagship cuvée. Bursting with honeysuckle and citrus aromas and hint of strawberry up front followed by delicate fruit flavours held together with a creamy texture and balanced by refreshing crispness. Its made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the traditional method and enjoys extra time on lees to add a wonderful complexity shown in the toasty, nutty notes that linger on the clean, dry finish.
The Producer:
Jansz's story started in 1986 when Champagne house Louis Roederer, seeing similarities between the Tasmanian climate and that of their own part of northern France, partnered with the owners of Heemskerk Wines to produce Tasmania's first premium vintage sparkling wine. In 1997, the Hill-Smith family (of Yalumba fame) purchased the vineyard and began the journey that has seen Jansz become the most highly regarded sparkling wine producer in Australia. In case you're interested, the name Jansz is taken from the man who first sighted Tasmania, the Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman.
When to drink:
An easy Champagne alternative this makes the ideal aperitif sparkler and, well chilled, is also good with seafood and shellfish.
Suitable for Vegans
