Description
In a nutshell:
A classic, well-balanced Crianza from the heart of Rioja Oriental, with juicy red fruit, a touch of vanilla from oak ageing, and enough spice and grip to keep things interesting.
The lowdown:
This is a great example of a Crianza hitting that sweet spot between oak-aged depth and easy-drinking charm. A blend of mostly Tempranillo with some Garnacha and a touch of Mazuelo, it spends 18 months in French and American oak followed by 6 months in bottle - just the right amount to add gentle spice and smooth tannins without overshadowing the fresh red fruit and blueberry flavours. It's a classic, well-balanced Rioja with enough character to feel special, but easy-going enough for any occasion.
The Producer:
Situated in the small town of Azagra, on the border of Navarra and Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos is uniquely positioned to produce wines from both renowned regions. Founded in 1890, the real transformation occurred in 2010 when Victor Fernández de Manzanos, his brother David, and Laura Mateo took the helm. They revitalised the winery, introducing cutting-edge equipment and expanding their facilities. Today, they manage several hundred hectares of vines, crafting a diverse array of wines. Their Finca Manzanos, Voché, and Castillo de Enériz ranges brilliantly showcase both contemporary and traditional winemaking styles, embodying the best of both worlds.
When to drink:
Great with Iberian classics like meatballs in tomato sauce, patatas bravas, or jamón croquetas, but it also pairs beautifully with grilled pork, tortilla de patatas, or a simple plate of Manchego and olives.
Suitable for Vegans
