The high-altitude Calchaqui Valley in Salta is a place where the sunny days and chilly nights create lovely Malbecs like this which have a fresher, more elegant feel than Mendoza's bolder styles. After a year in oak, it's bursting with berries, plum jam, and a touch of redcurrant zing, with violets adding a lovely floral lift. There's a hint of vanilla and a smear of dark chocolate for extra indulgence. Smooth tannins give it structure, while the finish is long and beautifully balanced. Rich and polished, but never over the top.

Nestled amidst the world's highest vineyards in Argentina's remote Salta region, Bodega El Esteco enjoys a rich heritage dating back to 1892.
