Description
In a nutshell:
A fuller-bodied Cumbrian bitter with rich amber malt and a proper hit of classic English hops.
The lowdown:
This one's a bit of a throwback - in the best possible way. Brewed with Maris Otter malt and a trusty handful of English hops, it's amber in the glass, with toasty malt flavours, a touch of nuttiness, and a clean, floral bitterness running through. There's a good depth without tipping over into heaviness. It's balanced, characterful, and exactly the sort of beer that rewards taking your time over.
The Brewery:
Coniston Brewery got going in 1995, when Ian Bradley decided to swap the family pub's bar for a brewhouse out back. Tucked away behind the Black Bull in the Lake District, it's where Bluebird Bitter was born - and promptly crowned Champion Beer of Britain a few years later. Since then, they've stuck to what they do best: brewing classic, characterful ales with local water, whole hops and a healthy respect for tradition.
Style - Amber, Red Ale & Bitter ABV 4.4% - Moderate Strength
