In a nutshell: An unctuous and rich yet zesty and balanced sweet Australian fortified wine from the renowned Rutherglen region
The lowdown: The Rutherglen region in north east Victoria is an area synonymous with sweet and fortified wines such as this and at Chamber's Rosewood vineyard they make some of the best examples to be found. Some of their highly prized, rare sweet wines are regularly lauded by the likes of Robert Parkerand James Halliday. This, their young and fresh wine, has the classic tawny colour and aromas of rose petals, raisins and dried fruit, charateristics which follow through to the palate which is well balanced with a clean acidity. The finish is pleasingly lengthy and vibrant with hints of sweet spice.
When to drink: Nicely chilled it makes an excellent tipple to have with a slice of cake as an afternoon treat.
