Description
In a nutshell:
A Chardonnay that showcases Burgundy's finesse - this wine is all about ripe fruit, rounded texture, and a captivating balance.
The lowdown:
With its bright, light gold colour this smells like ripe peaches, a bit of lemon, and toasty bread. Louis Jadot, a big name in Burgundy, makes this one mostly from Côte d'Or grapes with a splash from the Mâconnais region. It's all about the fresh fruit flavour, with a nice weight on the palate and a zingy finish to keep things lively. A touch of oak during the winemaking process adds a hint of vanilla, making it round and easy to enjoy.
The Producer:
Maison Louis Jadot is one of the classic Burgundy names, founded back in 1859 in Beaune - you can't miss their eye-catching winery. Their fruit comes from their many vineyards dotted around the Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais which is supplemented by some bought in. André Gagey and winemaker Jacques Lardière were the dream team behind their success. Jadot wines reliably deliver but check out their Côte de Beaune reds and whites - those are special. Frédéric Barnier took over from Lardière in 2013 and hasn't missed a beat.
When to drink:
Delightful on its own, but truly shines alongside roast pork - the richness of the meat and crispy crackling are a perfect match.
