Description
      France: Languedoc-Roussillon
Fresh & Juicy Red
Medium-Bodied
Vegan - ABV 13.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A southern French blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Merlot showing ripe red fruit, gentle spice and an easy, rounded flow.
The Lowdown:
Grenache, Cinsault and Merlot - they might not be the Holy Trinity, but they're certainly a handy one for bright, good-value reds from the Languedoc. In the warm, dry Pays d'Oc these three grapes pull in the same direction: Grenache brings ripe fruit and warmth, Cinsault adds fragrance and freshness, and Merlot fills out the middle with smooth texture and supple tannin. The result is clean, medium-bodied and gently fruity, with cherry, cranberry and a touch of cassis over a dry, balanced finish that shows classic Languedoc style.
The Producer:
The estate producing the Bergerie de la Bastide range hails, from just outside Beziers and make a range of good value wines utilizing local grape varieties, traditional winemaking techniques, and sustainable agriculture.
When to Drink:
Great with grilled lamb or tomato-based dishes - the fruit and gentle spice echo the flavours.
