Description
In a nutshell:
A fresh, dry, textural white from Western Australia with subtle aromatics and a lively balance of crisp fruit and depth
The lowdown:
The idea behind Larry Cherubino's Apostrophe wines isnt about sticking to a fixed blend but about making something fresh, textural, and brilliantly food-friendly. The inspiration here leans towards Alsace - no surprise, given how well those aromatic varieties play with food. This year, its 50% Gewurztraminer for a touch of spice, with equal parts Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio adding fresh, supple fruit and a bright, zippy lift. No oak, just pure, expressive flavours. It's bursting with lime zest, crisp white peaches, and a hint of fragrant spice. Bright, refreshing, and a simply enjoyable.
The Producer:
Larry Cherubino Wines is a name that consistently pops up when discussing Western Australian wine. Larry Cherubino, the man behind the label, is a bit of a legend in the region. After graduating from Australia's prestigious Roseworthy program, he spent years honing his craft around the world before returning home in 2005 to set up his own show. Today, he's not only making highly regarded wines under his own label, but also lends his expertise to a number of other big names. Larry's a bloke who wears his passion for winemaking clearly on his sleeve, and it shows in the quality of the wines he produces.
When to drink:
Vibrant and bright, this is spot on for fragrant Thai and Vietnamese dishes - think lemongrass chicken or green papaya salad. Its zippy freshness also makes it a winner with grilled prawns or classic moules marinières.
