The lowdown:
Silent Pool Rosé first found fame gracing the Royal Barge during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee banquet back in 2012. Since then, it's quietly become a hit among English rosés. Crafted from red champagne grapes, Pinot Noir and Meunier, it has a good body and depth that let the early season strawberry and cherry flavours shine. Well-balanced with clean minerality and crisp acidity it finishes with a long, mouth-watering flourish. A regal sip of Englands finest.
The Producer:
Albury Organic Vineyard , situated on the southern slopes of the beautiful Surrey Hills just outside Guildford, is the result of Nick Wenman's passion for wine. Having retired from the IT industry in 2009 he was able to fulfil his dream of owning a vineyard which he has turned into a small, but highly regarded organic estate. Here they grow the traditional Champagne varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier alongside some Seyval and Pinot Gris. They're committed to producing organic fruit without the use of chemicals such as herbicides and fungicides - not always that easy in the English climate - from which they commendably produce wines of the highest quality.
When to drink:
Wonderfully elegant and crisp it's ideal as a summer aperitif and perfect for al fresco dining.
