Description
In a nutshell:
A characterful yet refined red from Umbria, with dark cherry, plum, and herbal notes, balanced by firm tannins and a savoury, earthy finish.
The lowdown:
Umbria, Tuscany's smaller neighbour, has its own take on Italian reds, and this is a great example. It's mostly Sangiovese, with a splash of local grape Sagrantino adding a bit more punch and structure. After 12 months spent in large oak barrels, it's packed with black cherry, blackberry, and chocolate flavours, with hints of coffee, herbs, and warm spices. The tannins are firm but nicely balanced, making it bold and full of character, yet still really inviting.
The Producer:
Cantine Adanti nestled in Umbrias picturesque Montefalco region, is a beacon of excellence. Established in the 1960s, the family-run estate seamlessly blends tradition with innovation. They craft wines that embody the robust, earthy character of the local native grape varieties and theyre committed to sustainable practices. With meticulous attention to detail Cantine Adanti produces wines of remarkable depth and complexity which has earned them a distinguished reputation.
When to drink:
A classic Italian food wine - great with lentil stew, roast pork with herbs, or pecorino cheese. The wine's bold flavours and firm tannins match hearty, rustic dishes perfectly.
