Description
Dark Ale, Dubbel & Quadrupel
Belgium
ABV 8.3% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A strong, dark Belgian winter ale - rich, warming and firmly balanced.
The Lowdown:
Big, dark and unmistakably Belgian, this is Brouwerij Kerkom's classic winter release. Deep brown in colour with notes of raisin, toffee and roasted malt, it's smooth and full across the palate, with gentle cocoa and caramel rounding things out. A thread of bitterness keeps the sweetness in check, finishing dry and satisfying. Strong, steady and perfectly balanced - a traditional Belgian dark ale with real winter weight and polish.
The Brewery: Brouwerij Kerkom is a small, old-school brewery from Sint-Truiden, a quiet town in eastern Belgium not far from Liège. It's best known for its 'Bink' beers - honest, full-flavoured and unmistakably Belgian. The brewery first opened in 1878, shut its doors in the late '60s, then sprang back to life in 1988 when Bink returned and Kerkom rejoined the ranks of Belgium's small independents. In 2022 it teamed up with De Ranke, another respected name, and production moved there - but the Kerkom spirit lives on, and the beers still have their loyal following.
