Wimbledon Westie West Coast IPA
A British take on a West Coast IPA: bright, clean, with a rounded malty body, bold pine-and-citrus hops and a crisp, firmly bitter finish.
The Lowdown
Wimbledon’s homage to the West Coast IPA: all the pine and citrus you’d hope for are there, channelled into a British groove. A solid malt base gives it a bit of ballast, while Chinook, Columbus, Cascade and Centennial hops bring out resin, grapefruit and a touch of orange peel. It signs off with a confidently dry, bitter finish – the West Coast hallmark.
The Producer
Wimbledon has a brewing history stretching back to the Middle Ages, but the modern Wimbledon Brewery began in 2014, founded by Mark Gordon. After a career in the City, he set out to brew high-quality English beer in his home town and brought in experienced brewer Derek Prentice, formerly of Youngs, Trumans and Fullers. These days you'll find the brewery close to the site of the medieval Merton Priory just south of the town.
