Description
Hazy, Juicy & East Coast Style IPA
England: London
ABV 5.2% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Uncommon by name - tropical by nature. A hazy IPA loaded with pineapple and grapefruit, backed by a silky oat body.
The Lowdown:
Why 'Uncommon'? Well, it's a bit cutting edge for Wimbledon. This is a hazy IPA that goes big on juicy pineapple and grapefruit, thanks to bold US hops, while a dose of oats gives a silky body and rounded edges. It's bit of a swerve from the brewery's usual playbook, landing squarely in juicy, modern territory. Fruit sits front and centre, carbonation is gentle, and the finish is smooth and clean, with citrus-tropical aromatics lingering on the palate, for a distinctly fruit-led profile.
The Brewery:
Wimbledon has a brewing history stretching back to the Middle Ages, but the modern Wimbledon Brewery began in 2014, founded by Mark Gordon. After a career in the City, he set out to brew high-quality English beer in his home town and brought in experienced brewer Derek Prentice, formerly of Youngs, Trumans and Fullers. These days you'll find the brewery close to the site of the medieval Merton Priory just south of the town.
