Description
Hazy, Juicy & East Coast Style IPA
England: London
ABV 5.2% - 33.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Uncommon by name - tropical by nature. A hazy IPA loaded with pineapple and grapefruit, backed by a silky oat body.
The Lowdown:
Why 'Uncommon'? Well, it's a bit cutting edge for Wimbledon. This is a hazy IPA that goes big on juicy pineapple and grapefruit, thanks to bold US hops, while a dose of oats gives a silky body and rounded edges. It's bit of a swerve from the brewery's usual playbook, landing squarely in juicy, modern territory. Fruit sits front and centre, carbonation is gentle, and the finish is smooth and clean, with citrus-tropical aromatics lingering on the palate, for a distinctly fruit-led profile.
The Producer: Wimbledon Brewery
The Wimbledon area of southwest London has a long history of brewing going back at least as far as the Middle Ages. This the current one was started in 2014 by Mark Gordon who, after a career in the City, had ambitions to brew internationally renowned English beer in the town where he lived. He recruited Derek Prentice who, through his career, has brewed at many famous London breweries including Youngs, Trumans and Fullers. The current brewery is situated close to the site of the medieval Merton Priory.
