Description
In a nutshell:
Dark, malty and gluten free Bitter from the Westerham Brewery in west Kent.
The lowdown:
A dark, malty bitter with nutty, roasted notes from the chocolate malt. This session bitter is hopped with Kent Target hops from the National Trusts hop farm at Scotney Castle and Finchcocks Kent Goldings which give it a bracingly peppery character at the finish and make it a satisfying and flavoursome beer.
The Brewery:
With its establishment in 2004 by Robert Wicks the Westerham Brewery Company brought back the art of brewing to the west Kent town of Westerham. In doing so they revived the area's rich brewing heritage and many of the beers they produce hark back to the much loved flavours of the town's Black Eagle Brewery which closed in 1965. The local water of this part of Kent which percolates through the Lower Greensand Ridge is excellent for brewing pale bitters for which for which breweries over the years have earned their reputation. Appropriately enough for a Kent brewery they source over 90% of their hops from Kentish hop gardens.
Style - Brown Ale & Mild & Other Ales ABV 3.8% - Session Strength
Suitable for Vegans, Gluten Free
