Description
In a nutshell:
A lightly oaked, biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc from Stellenbosch, with bright citrus, ripe peach, and a hint of herbs, rounded out by a creamy texture and a fresh, balanced finish.
The lowdown:
Sauvignon Blanc doesnt often see oak, but when it's done right - like here - it really brings something extra to the party. Fermented in seasoned barrels, it's got a creamy feel that doesnt overpower the classic citrus and gooseberry flavours. There's a nice hit of stone fruit, a hint of fennel, and a refreshing streak of mineral acidity to keep things lively. A more layered, grown-up style of Sauvignon with satisfying weight and plenty of character.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
Great with buttered crayfish tails, grilled hake, or a creamy mussel pot - the citrusy freshness and subtle oak work brilliantly with richer seafood dishes without overpowering the flavours.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
