Description
In a nutshell:
A biodynamic rosé from Stellenbosch, made from Mourvèdre, with delicate red berry and citrus flavours, a savoury herbal twist, and a dry, refreshing finish.
The lowdown:
This elegant Cape rosé takes its cue from the best Provençal styles, with a delicate pink hue and lovely aromas of pomegranate, raspberry, and a subtle flinty edge. Made entirely from Mourvèdre - just like the famous rosés of Bandol - it's all about finesse and balance. Soft red fruit flavours flow through a silky, textured palate, finishing crisp and refreshing. South African rosé often flies under the radar, but this one proves it deserves a spot at the table.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
Perfect for long lazy afternoons, it pairs beautifully with light seafood dishes like grilled prawns, seared tuna, or a simple crab salad- the delicate fruit and crisp finish keep everything fresh and breezy.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
