Description
In a nutshell:
Sip a taste of Stellenbosch sunshine - this biodynamic white bursts with bright fruit and a smooth, satisfying finish.
The lowdown:
A soft texture and tight mineral core is the base on which layers of fascinating complexity are built in this appetizing white blend. On top are fruit flavours of lime, grapefruit and peach complemented by richer tropical notes which persist nicely to towards the lingering finish. It's a blend of mostly Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc with a tadge of Semillon and is partly barrel fermented to add a little weight and depth. And in Waterkloof's true style a gentle hand is used in the winery which shines through in the finished product.
The Producer:
Waterkloof, established in 2004 by Paul Boutinot, is a bit of a favourite of those who appreciate wines made with care and a more than a touch of conscience. This family-run estate is proudly organic and biodynamic, even sporting the WWF Biodiversity Champion title. Perched on the Schapenberg hills overlooking False Bay, their vineyards benefit from cool breezes and a leisurely growing season, producing wonderfully balanced fruit. In the cellar, winemaker Nadia Langenegger allows the grapes to speak for themselves with minimal interference, creating wines that feel genuine, refined, and very much a taste of their unique surroundings.
When to drink:
A fresh, lively white that would be a pleasure on its own, but also stands up nicely to a piece of grilled tuna or red snapper.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
