Description
In a nutshell:
A smooth and rich natural wine from Chile, bursting with dark berries, a touch of spice, and just enough freshness to keep things lively.
The lowdown:
Viña Echeverría take sustainable farming seriously, and they're proud of their No es Pituko range of easy-going natural wines. You dont see much Carignan outside southern France, but here it thrives. As a natural wine, it's bottled unfined and unfiltered, so a little earthiness is what you're buying into - but that's not to its detriment. What really stands out is the bold, juicy fruit - rich plum and ripe blackberries with a touch of cinnamon and star anise. The palate is fresh and silky, with fine tannins and a subtle savoury edge. Smooth, vibrant, and effortlessly drinkable.
The Producer:
The striking No es Pituko range of natural wines hails from Vina Echeverría, a family-run winery with roots in the 1930s. They farm 65 hectares sustainably in Chiles Central Valley. Chief winemaker Roberto Ignacio Echeverría runs the business with his three siblings. The modern transformation began in the 1980s when their father, a former World Bank economist, returned from the USA and renovated the rundown estate making it into the widely admired winery it is today.
When to drink:
Pretty versatile, to be honest - lamb chops, a juicy steak, or something smoky off the barbie? No problem. Big on fruit, a hint of spice, and just the right freshness.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
