Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé 2025
A rosé from one of the sunniest parts of Germany, made from Pinot Noir and full of red berry fruit with a lively citrusy lift.
The Lowdown
This vibrant German rosé bursts with ripe strawberry and redcurrant flavours. It's crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the sunny Pfalz region. A short soak with the grape skins brings a touch of colour and richness, but the wine retains a zesty, citrusy lift. It's not bone-dry, with a pleasant touch of sweetness balancing the lively acidity. A versatile rosé - a delight on its own, yet it boasts the depth to stand up to light summery dishes. Good quality at a reasonable price.
The Occasion
Charmingly fruity, this rosé is just the thing for a light summer lunch, a picnic spread, or simply sipping on its own.
The Producer
Villa Wolf is located near the picturesque town of Wachenheim in southern Germany and was acquired by the renowned Ernst Loosen in 1996, who set about revitalising it, bringing his wealth of expertise down from the Mosel to the Pfalz. This part of the country is one of the warmest, driest and sunniest regions, and well suited to making wines that complement and contrast with Loosen's fruitier Mosel Rieslings. Patrick Moellendorf heads up operations here and has overseen the estate's emergence as a reliable producer of a range of German and international varieties.
