Utopian Brewing Hoppy Red Lager

Fancy a change from pale lagers? Here's something different. Loosely inspired by Franconian Rotbier – a traditional amber lager style from Bavaria – this is built on rich, bready malt flavours developed through a proper double decoction mash. That's old-school German brewing, the sort that takes time and effort but delivers real depth. Then comes a twist: a late dry hop with Fuggles adds delicate mint and floral notes that sit nicely over the malt base. Full-bodied but staying clean and refreshing rather than heavy, which is a lovely balance to pull off.

Utopian Brewing Company has a simple goal: to celebrate British lager. Based in Devon, they craft their brews using time-honoured techniques, but with a British twist, relying solely on locally grown ingredients. With a rich array of homegrown resources on their doorstep, going fully British-made was an easy decision, helping them reduce their carbon footprint along the way. It's lager, but done thoughtfully, with a dash of British flair and a nod to sustainability.
