DESCRIPTION
In a nutshell:
Dark and smooth Belgian Trappist Dubbel from the Brasserie de Rochefort near the Ardennes forest.
The lowdown:
Originally only brewed for New Year's Eve this strong, dark ale from Rochefort is now available year round. It has a rich maltiness with brown sugar and dried fruit flavours all bursting onto the tongue. A touch sweet to start the spicy notes, crisp sparkle, and dry finish keep it all in good balance. The aromas of dried fruits, caramel, spice, and a warming alcohol just add to its elegance and richness.
Style - Belgian Style Dubbel ABV 9.2% - Very Strong

PRODUCER
Brasserie de Rochefort

When it comes to historical Belgian beers brewed by monks, they fall into two camps; Trappiste or Abbaye beers. Brasserie de Rochefort falls into the former and very select group of just six Trappist breweries. Associated with the Rochefort Abbey monks have been brewing here since the sixteenth century. The water for the beer is still drawn from within the Abbey walls to this day.
they have just 3 beers on offer, Rochefort 6, 8 and 10 which take their names and numbering from a now obsolete form of measuring the specific gravity, and hence alcoholic strength of ale.
