A bright, light and floral Soave from vineyards outside Verona in north east Italy.
The lowdown:
The grapes for this Soave are grown on the volcanic soils around Monteforte d'Alpone and made by the town's go-ahead cooperative. Gentle pressing followed by careful, chilled racking into stainless steel tanks for fermentation is the order of the day here. It yields an aromatic wine with attractive aromas of peach, pineapple, honey, ginger, citrus fruits and hints of almond. There is some weight on the palate and a soft slightly creamy texture plus a bit of honey, stem ginger and nuts. It's all very well balanced with a zesty, citrus finish.

Cantina di Monteforte is Soave's leading co-operative, a powerhouse with their members' vineyards sprawled across some of the region's prime sites, both within and beyond the Classico zone's hallowed slopes. This enviable access to top-notch fruit allows them to consistently craft a range of wines that cater to all tastes and budgets. Their reputation for quality is well-deserved and has cemented their position as one of Soave's most respected producers.
When to drink:
A suave Soave if ever there was one. Great for drinking by itself and perfect with seafood based pasta dishes.
