In a nutshell:
A bright. Minerally and fruity southern French red from the historic Gaillac area north of Toulouse.
This sparky red wine is made by the excellent cooperative of Lasbastide de Levis, a small town in the heart of Gaillac. Which is a fairly unsung corner of South West France but where some really good value wines can be found of which we think this one is certainly one of them. It's a blend of native Gaillac varieties, Duras and Braucol (sometimes better known as Fer) that combine to great effect. The slightly mineral edge and brisk acidity really bring out the bright red fruit flavours and making this a delightfully moreish wine.
When to drink:
This is a brilliant quaffing wine which not too hefty and is great slightly chilled. With food it's goes well with pizzas, pasta and fish dishes.
