Description
In a nutshell:
A very likeable, fruity and softly spicy Australian Pinot Noir from Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
The lowdown:
Victoria's Mornington Peninsula is just south east of Melbourne and is a bit of a holiday playground as well as being good wine growing country. Ten Minutes by Tractors' 10X range are sourced from a range of vineyards here and are created to be easily approachable examples of what this area can produce. All the fruit for this was hand harvested and after fermentation was aged in French oak barrels ofr 10 months. The result is a wine with a touch of juniper, cloves and vanilla on the nose. The fresh and youthful on the palate with bright cherries and strawberries, a hint of spice and and earthy savouriness. With subtle, silky tannins giving a lovely structure this is a very chic Victorian Pinot Noir.
The Producer:
Situated in the Mornington Peninsula, widely considered one of the best areas in Australia for pinot noir and chardonnay, Ten Minutes by Tractor is one of the pioneers of fine wine making in this corner of Victoria and a beacon to those striving for quality. Originally set up in 2000, the winery is today run by Martin Spedding who has overseen the rise of the winery to near cult status. The estate is named after the length of time taken to reach their original three vineyards, Judd, McCutcheon and Wallis by tractor. They've since expanded further through the region with additional vineyards sites whilst retaining their quality ethos and enviable reputation.
When to drink:
Its generous flavours mean that things like pork chops with apple sauce work really well.
