Description
In a nutshell:
Ripe, racy, and effortlessly elegant - Kentish sparkling rosé with bright red fruit, fine bubbles, and a crisp English edge.
The lowdown:
Pinot Noir through and through, this is a serious, well-structured sparkling rosé with plenty of charm. Fresh raspberry sorbet and cranberry aromas lead into wild strawberry, exotic fruit, and tangy lime on the palate. There's finesse and balance throughout, with hints of vanilla cream, almond, and rose adding complexity. A savoury touch lingers alongside vibrant grapefruit and red berry notes, carrying right through to a generous, lingering finish. Ripe, racy, and beautifully elegant - perfectly poised with good weight and generosity.
The Producer:
Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the north Downs of Kent where the contours of land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through the Champagne region and on to Burgundy. The vineyards are less than eight miles from the coast providing a crucial maritime influence the wines.
When to drink:
Equally an aperitif or food wine, it' spot on with smoked salmon blinis, duck rillettes, or a plate of charcuterie. The ripe red fruit and crisp freshness cut through rich flavours beautifully.
