Description
In a nutshell:
Pale, dry, and effortlessly elegant - Kent's answer to Provence with crisp fruit and a clean, refreshing finish.
The lowdown:
Pale, pink, and Provençal - well, nearly. This comes from the North Downs near Canterbury, making it a quintessentially English twist on that sun-soaked, laid-back style. Pinot Noir from Simpson's Railway Hill vineyard gives fresh aromas of watermelon and lychee, followed by peachy, stone-fruit flavours and a smooth, silky texture. Dry, crisp, and delicately fruity, it's got just the right balance of freshness and ripeness. Its delicate aromas and attractive colour capture the essence of summer perfectly - clean, refreshing, and effortlessly enjoyable. Stylish English rosé with plenty of charm.
The Producer:
Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the north Downs of Kent where the contours of land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through the Champagne region and on to Burgundy. The vineyards are less than eight miles from the coast providing a crucial maritime influence the wines.
When to drink:
Perfect summer drinking, whether you're firing up the barbecue or just pretending it's warm enough. Spot on with grilled lemon and herb chicken, barbecued prawns, or charred courgettes and red peppers - fresh, fruity, and effortlessly easy.
