In a nutshell: Californian Cabernet with a commanding presence in the glass.
The lowdown: Quite a powerhouse of a wine. With a brooding, dark fruit intensity that's as imposing as its name, this Cabernet exudes bold blackberries, currants, and a tantalizing hint of cedar. It's full-bodied with structured tannins and a decent lick of oak which makes it a robust, intriguing and brilliantly easy-drinking.
The fruit for this is sourced from vineyards in the northern part of California's Central Valley, the region around Lodi and Manteca which enjoys significant influence from San Joaquin and Sacramento river deltas and act as a natural cooling system to the often-searing heat. The effect is to provide freshness to the ripe, fruit charged Cabernet grapes. The wine is aged for 6 months in oak providing its broad, rich framework.
When to drink: Hearty, rich dishes like grilled ribeye steak, or braised short ribs are just the ticket. And dark chocolate desserts work very well too.
