Shannon Ridge Chardonnay, Lake County 2023

This is a Chardonnay that balances Californian ripeness with restraint. In this northern part of the state the volcanic soils and high-elevation vineyards have created something with a bit of backbone, concentrated fruit and bright acidity - to which a subtle use of oak adds a layer of polish and integration. Pear, green apple and melon lead, with lively citrus notes cutting through and a gentle touch of toasted coconut, caramel and a creamy texture keeping everything fresh and lifted. Good fruit intensity and a clean, juicy finish that stays bright from start to end.

Excellent with pan-seared halibut, chicken in cream sauce, or seafood risotto - the acidity and fruit brightness balance richer dishes beautifully.
