Sella & Mosca Anemone Rosato 2025
A pale, dry Sardinian rosato with bright cherry fruit and a gentle Mediterranean herby florality, crisp acidity and a light, easy-drinking feel.
The Lowdown
This is a pretty good example of a Sardinian rosé - pale, light and refreshing to be sure, but with a little more to get your teeth into than the lightest, most neutral styles. The Cannonau grape brings a faint herby edge to the cherry fruit – not overbearing, but enough to give it a bit more character. And the brief skin contact during pressing adds a touch of body and a gentle grip that holds it together well on the finish.
The Occasion
Good on its own or with food – it has enough character to work well with both. Grilled fish, chicken or light pasta dishes suit it, where its dry, fresh character keeps things clean on the palate.
The Producer
With over 500 hectares of vineyards, Sella & Mosca are a major force in Sardinia's wine scene. Most of their vines surround the winery near Alghero in the northwest, with additional plots in Gallura and Sulcis. Founded in the early 1900s by a pair of Piedmontese entrepreneurs, they've grown steadily into one of the island's most respected producers. Their portfolio is based around Sardinian grape varieties, with the objective of capturing the character of a place where winemaking has been part of the culture for over 3,000 years.
