Description
England: Devon
Light & Delicate Rosé
Dry - Light-Bodied
Vegan - ABV 9.5% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Dry, elegant English rosé made purely from Pinot Noir, full of delicate red fruit and lively freshness.
The Lowdown:
At under 10% ABV this rosé might sound light, but it's not so slight. Pure Pinot Noir gives it shape and depth, with wild strawberry, raspberry and a hint of peach leading the way. Theres an easy creaminess to the texture, lifted by crisp acidity that keeps it bright and focused. Fresh, fine-boned and full of flavour, it's a lighter style that still has plenty to say.
The Producer:
Originally known as Sharpham Estate, Sandridge Barton was one of the those that helped English wine get established, planting its first vines on the River Dart back in the 1980s and proving that Devon could do more than cream teas. In 2020 the whole operation crossed the river to Sandridge Barton near Stoke Gabriel, swapping its old home for a larger estate with limestone soils and room to grow. The winemaking remains firmly in-house, with estate fruit only and a leaning towards wild ferments. New name, new site, but the same pioneering streak.
When to Drink:
Excellent with lighter dishes - salads, seafood, grilled vegetables - or simply enjoyed well-chilled on its own.
