Description
Light & Delicate Rosé
Bone Dry, Light-Bodied
Loire Valley, ABV 12.5%, 75cl
In a Nutshell:
Crisp Loire rosé brimming with red-berry freshness, subtle minerality and elegantly poised acidity.
The Lowdown:
Rosé from Sancerre isnt just a seasonal sideshow - it's part of the region's DNA. Made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on a mix of flint and limestone, this is pale, precise and firmly dry. Red berry fruit leads, backed by a stony edge that reflects the soils beneath. The finish is crisp and finely judged. It's a wine that speaks clearly of where it's from and does so without fuss.
The Producer:
The Dezats have been a winemaking dynasty in the Sancerre area since the 16th century. Firmin Dezat, from the latest generation, operates from his grandfather Andres old cellars in Verdigny. He manages over 20 hectares of vineyards, growing Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir across various soil types, the different terroirs adding depth and character to his wines. In 2021, he converted to organic practices and focuses on minimal intervention in the winery. This approach allows the natural qualities of his fruit and the terroir to shine through, creating wines that truly reflect their origins. It's a good blend of tradition and modern winemaking.
When to Drink:
Best served chilled with salmon, grilled vegetables or simple salads - fresh flavours and crisp edges work hand in hand.
