Description
In a nutshell:
Unoaked with bright citrus and orchard fruit, this has a crisp mineral edge that leaves a lively, mouth-watering finish.
The lowdown:
Saint-Véran is well known as one of the top appellations of the Mâconnais, and Domaine Corsin's "Tirage Précoce" cuvée is one that only enhances that reputation. Matured on its fine lees, which enhances the citrus aromatics and lively acidity, you get a delicate bouquet with ripe stone fruit, pear, and a hint of stony minerality. On the palate, it's rounded yet complex, showing a lovely balance between refreshing acidity, juicy fruit flavours, and a lasting mineral finish. Unoaked it's fresh yet full and immensely drinkable.
The Producer:
Domaine Corsin is a family-run estate that's been making wines in the southern Mâconnais since the mid-1800s, long before the area's wines gained their modern-day recognition. As one of the first producers to label wines as Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon Blanc, they helped set the stage for the region's later prominence. Today, the estate is in the hands of Jéremy Corsin, the sixth generation of the family, who oversees nearly 14 hectares of Chardonnay, mainly in Saint-Véran and the nearby villages of Davayé and Solutré. Their wines are reliably elegant and fresh and capture the essence of the region's rich, limestone terroir.
When to drink:
Try pairing it the likes of grilled sea bass, a creamy goat's cheese salad, or a light pasta primavera, the bright acidity and mineral edge beautifully balance richer flavours.
Suitable for Vegans, Biodynamic
