In addition to the traditional gin botanicals this includes 6 additional Japanese ones, sakura leaf, sakura flower, sencha tea, gyokuro tea, sansho pepper and yuzu peel. The name 'Roku' means 6 in Japanese to emphasis this. The result is an earthy and vegetal gin with a touch of fruity sweetness and hint of pepperiness on the finish. Try Roku gin classically served with tonic and ice, but garnished with a few slithers of peeled ginger.

Roku Gin is a part of Suntory's stable of premium Japanese spirits. Their gins are a less well-known part of their portfolio but, nevertheless, have a history that goes back to the early part of the 20th century. Suntory's first gin, called Hermes Gin, was launched in 1936 and it's on this and the company's experience gained in more than 100 years of distilling that underpins their latest range of Roku gins.
