Description
In a nutshell:
A dark, vibrant and engaging, classic Central Otago Pinot Noir from New Zealand's South Island.
The lowdown:
Made by the esteemed Mount Difficulty winery, their Roaring Meg wines are somewhat more fruit driven and made for early drinking than the senior label. This is a wine that exhibits a lovely mix of red and black berry fruits with further complexity gained from oak spice. The tannins rise gracefully out of the mid-palate and are balanced by rich fruit and clean acidity which lead to a long, lingering finish with a touch of spice.
The Producer:
Mount Difficulty Winess origins date back to the early 1990s when the owners of five newly planted Bannockburn vineyards decided to pool their resources and produce wine under a single label. Pinot Noir, the region's hallmark, is naturally their main focus, but they also excel with Chardonnay and a selection of aromatic whites. Now one of Central Otago's most successful estates, Mount Difficulty offers a range of wines that reflect the area's unique qualities. Their more affordable Roaring Meg wines are particularly noteworthy, providing a great introduction to the region's distinctive character.
When to drink:
Great as stand alone drinking it's also a cracking wine that'll go well with a game casserole, or similar.
Suitable for Vegans
