The lowdown:
The captivating bouquet, infused with delicate hints of passion fruit, peach, and citrus forms the initial impressions before more floral notes take centre stage. Then peachy, fresh-cut grass, and citrus flavours take over and culminates with a lingering minerality and a classic touch of gunsmoke. The Dezat family have long been expert in producing superb Sauvignon Blancs and this is another in that long line.
The Producer:
Thibault wines are made by Domaine Arnaud and Stéphanie Dezat, one of the successor domaines of the renowned André Dezat et Fils. The other being their cousin's estate Domaine Firmin Dezat. They've recently built a new state-of-the-art winery just around the corner from old André Dezat cellars and are continuing to make excellent wines from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé in a similar style and with the same care and attention to detail that their father, uncle and grandfather always had.
When to drink:
Naturally a great stand-alone wine, its inherent bright minerality makes also makes it ideal with shellfish, oysters and simply grilled white fish.
