Description
In a nutshell:
A good, well balanced organic Soave from one of the best producers in the Veneto between Verona and Venice
The lowdown:
Pieropan is one of the oldest and most respected Soave producers where quality has always been paramount and they make some of the best examples available. The Soave region has grown substantially over the years, but the heartland remains the Classico zone where the best vineyards are and where this wine is from. Fermented in glass lined tanks and aged for a short period on its lees, this wine has a nice balance between soft rounded fruit and crisp minerality. There are lovely succulent flavours of ripe lemon, nectarine, sherbet and biscuit with great clean and crisp acidity.
The Producer:
Pieropan's estate covers 58 hectares situated on the stony hills of Soave Classico between Verona and Venice. The Pieropan family has been producing wines in Soave since the 1890s, their current winery being in the town itself. Being so synonymous with the area they were the first producer to bottle a wine with the name Soave on the label in the early 1930s. Nino Pieropan took over from his father in 1970 and was the first producer in Soave to make a single vineyard wine, 'Calvarino', in 1971. Nino's two sons, Andrea and Dario, took over the running of the estate in 2017. From the 2015 vintage onwards, all Pieropan wines are organically certified.
When to drink:
Great with lightly spiced dishes, it also works very well with vegetarian cooking.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
